In Home Care Application & Interview Process Explained
  1. Once we have received your initial application we will review the details and make contact with you.
  2. Should your application be successful you will be sent a full application pack via email and you may be invited in for an interview.
  3. At the interview please bring along 3 to 4 items of identification e.g. passport, driving licence, birth certificate or recent utility bill (not mobile phone) or recent bank statement- please check the full list of acceptable ID attached to your application pack.
  4. Please also bring along to the interview any ‘in-date’ care related certificates such as Diplomas/NVQ PLUS all mandatory care certificates if you have them.
  5. Please bring along your current DBS update number or DBS certificate
  6. Please allow one hour when you attend an interview at In Home Care.
  7. You will be notified either on the day or as soon as possible should your application be successful.
  8. If you have not registered on the DBS update service, we would need to apply for a new DBS, the cost of this is £51.80 and is payable by ‘you’ the applicant (this can be reclaimed after passing your probationary period). Without a DBS you will not be allowed to work at In Home Care. You can pay on the day of your interview by cash/debit or credit card or cheque.
  9. Three references will also be required, this would usually be recent or last employer, any other care employer, and a character reference.
  10. Should your application be successful we would invite you to our induction and training programme, which will be organised around your current ‘in-date & certified’ care related certification.
  11. We will assign you a senior care worker and once you have finished your mandatory & care certificate training and we have your references and DBS back, and shadowing has been completed you will be ready to start work.

DBS Checks and what is the DBS Update service:  (Formerly known as the CRB)

Please note: DBS checks can take up to 6 weeks (sometimes longer) so it is better to apply as soon as possible, (you can’t work without one). If you are currently waiting on a DBS being returned by another company you can apply NOW to be registered on the DBS update service please click the following link to find out more https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service or call DBS customer services on Telephone: 0300 0200 190 or email customerservices@dbs.gsi.gov.uk

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) update service lets applicants keep their DBS certificates up to date online and allows employers to check a certificate online (makes your life and ours so much simpler and allows you to go to work much quicker) it is approximately £13.50 per year, saving you ever having to apply for a full DBS again …ever !

We look forward to working with you !
